Sam Tomkins
NRL stint on cards

He’s modelled his game on Kangaroos custodian Billy Slater – now English fullback Sam Tomkins could become the next UK superstar to try his hand in the NRL.

Tomkins has told The Daily Telegraph he will entertain following fellow internationals Sam Burgess and Gareth Ellis to Australia at the end of his current contract with Wigan.

An electric 78kg custodian cut out of the same mould as former NSW Origin fullback Brett Hodgson, Tomkins set Leigh Village, in the north of England, alight last Sunday (AEDT) by opening his Four Nations account with a four-try haul against Wales.

Blessed with a combination of speed, vision and timing, Tomkins will now go one-on-one against the world’s best fullback Slater when England meet the Kangaroos at Wembley Stadium in London next Sunday (AEDT).
