Denan Kemp will stay firmly in the Broncos’ fold after a surprising turn of events with Super Rugby club the Melbourne Rebels.
Kemp was last week given permission to negotiate with the Rebels on the lure of a strong financial contract, despite the Broncos being keen to keep him.
The Broncos reluctantly told the classy winger, who has not been able to crack the NRL this year after being injured in the pre-season, that they would not stand in the popular club member’s way.
After completing a medical yesterday, Kemp thought he was on his way to Melbourne before the rugby union outfit mysteriously withdrew their offer.
The news however is good for the Broncos, who keep the genuine match winner in the squad.
Kemp said he was surprised at the turn of events but proud to be a Bronco.
“Obviously the club aren’t blaming me,” he said.
“I am not really sure what happened – I thought it was a done deal.
“But I love playing for the Broncos. So I am just going to put my head down and work hard to get back into the NRL side.”
