The Cronulla Sharks signing spree is set to continue with boom halfback Chad Townsend expected to agree to a two-year extension with the club.

Townsend is contracted to the Sharks until the end of next year but negotiations are under way to extend his stay for a further two seasons. It’s understood the Melbourne Storm and several Sydney clubs have already expressed interest but an extension could be announced in coming weeks.

”Halfbacks are pretty hard to find and clubs are always chasing them,” Townsend’s manager, Gavin Orr, said.

”But the Sharks are keen to look after their talent. His heart is in the Shire and he wants to help them into a finals situation.”

In other news, Wests Tigers could lose another player, with Geoff Daniela considering interest from St George Illawarra and another club. And Joe Galuvao is tipped to extend his stay at Brookvale for two years after positive talks with Manly officials last week.
