Cronulla has confirmed they are in talks with Craig Bellamy over a potential Coaching Director role.

David Riccio and Phil Rothfield from The Daily Telegraph revealed the two parties have been in discussions for six months over a potential role for the Melbourne Storm coach once his contract at the Storm expires at the end of the year.

Yesterday, the Sharks tweeted that they have been in discussions with Bellamy and will not make further announcements until there is more to report.

Bellamy is expected to call time on his 18-year reign at the Storm at the end of the season and has been offered a director role at the club.

The Broncos have also tabled an offer that would see him become a mentor to his former assistant and current Broncos coach Kevin Walters.

  1. Who can blame them? He’s been the most successful at what he does. So it would be a real coup for the club to get him there.

  2. Getting Bellyache onboard would be better than any player they could sign. I’d like to see it happen, but I don’t think it will given the great man’s family ties in Qld. To see Cronulla as one of the competition’s heavyweights each season would be a dream come true for the club and their loyal supporters, and I would rather see him go there than to the arrogant Broncos.

  3. Who cares? This Bellany, Smith talk is getting tedious. If Smith signs with the Titans he is a hypocrite. Didn’t Smith and Cronk fell out after Cronk signed with the Roosters?
