Former Test star Craig Gower is considering a return to the NRL and he could be joined next year by Bulldogs-bound England prop James Graham.
Gower, who has been playing rugby union in France’s Top 14, is off contract at Bayonne and must decide whether to forgo playing for Italy in this year’s World Cup or finish his career in the NRL.
The 32-year-old dual international has an offer to stay at Bayonne or join Italian club Viadana, but he has told his agent, Greg Willett, that he is interested in returning to the NRL this season.
Gower is back in Australia and Parramatta are likely contenders for his services.
South Sydney could also be an option as halves Chris Sandow and John Sutton are off contract this season, and Gower has links with Rabbitohs coach John Lang and chief executive Shane Richardson from their days in charge of Penrith, where he was the club’s 2003 premiership-winning captain.
The Eels had been linked to Graham but the Herald understands that he is close to finalising a deal with the Bulldogs.
