Braith Anasta
Happy in the forwards

Secret negotiations are continuing that could see Roosters skipper Braith Anasta move to the Cowboys in 2011. Anasta has started training with the Roosters for 2011, but Cowboys officials are still keen to buy out the final year of his contract and are just haggling over the asking fee.

Rumour has it the Anasta would like to play in the halves but the lethal combination of Mitchell Pearce and Todd Carney has forced him to play lock. A move to the Cowboys could see him partner Johnathan Thurston in the halves.

In other rumours, despite their protests, Souths will almost certainly have to jettison a top-quality player to have any hope of fitting Inglis under the salary cap. And the Cowboys have some cash to splash on the right Rabbitohs reject.

Veteran prop and club captain Roy Asotasi is the most likely player to be released by the Bunnies as he is on a $400,000-plus yearly deal and Souths are well served for forwards.

The Cowboys are closely monitoring how the Inglis saga plays out and are understood to be keen on securing Asotasi’s services if he leaves Redfern.
