The battle for the signature of Connor Watson looks to be over with the young star reportedly signing on with a new club for 2018.

Watson is contracted to the Sydney Roosters next season but with opportunities limited at the club behind a plethora of stars, Watson was given permission to talk to other clubs.

The Newcastle Knights and Wests Tigers had both been vocal about wanting to sign the young utility and most believed the Wests Tigers had got their man with reports of a massive offer.

That has all changed today though with reports that Watson will shun the bigger offer and sign with the Knights for 2018.

Foxsports journalist James Hooper has tweeted that Watson has inked a three-year deal with the Newcastle club and the deal will be announced shortly.

If true, Watson will join Aidan Guerra and Shaun Kenny-Dowall, both Roosters teammates, as well as Kalyn Ponga at the Knights next year.

The Knights are also expected to announce the signing of Broncos duo Herman Ese'ese and Tautau Moga in the near future, with Broncos coach Wayne Bennett today confirming that Ese'ese was leaving Brisbane.
