The Sydney Roosters have today announced that dynamic young utility Connor Watson has extended his arrangement with the Club until at least the end of 2018.

20-year-old Watson expressed his delight at extending his contract with the Tricolours.

“I’m very excited to extend my time with the Roosters,” said Watson.

“I’m learning so much from Robbo and the coaches, and this is where I want to build a career.

“I know I still have a lot of improvement in me, and hopefully I’ll keep learning and improving and secure an opportunity to play some good footy for the Roosters,” he added.

Roosters Head Coach Trent Robinson said it was exciting to have Watson extend his arrangement with the Club.

“I’ve really enjoyed watching Connor’s development over the last few years,” said Robinson.

“Connor is a natural ball runner who trains hard. He’s also a great young man, so I’m really looking forward to continuing to work with him and watching his development over the next few seasons,” he added.

Watson made his NRL debut in round 7 of the 2016 season, playing 16 games in his rookie year.

  1. Great news if we can hold onto our young players well be in a good place moving forward Watson is surprisingly strong I’d like to see him move to centre at some stage maybe 2018 I’d also happily wave Tupou goodbye 2018 (with no signings)

    1 Latrell Mitchell
    2 Joseph Manu
    3 Connor Watson
    4 Blake Fergusson
    5 Shaun Kenny-Dewell

Attacking attributes would be great but defensively they would get murdered on both sides

  2. Playing at Right Centre?
I can’t wait to see John Sutton, Aaron Gray and Cody Walker run at him.
Steam Roller comes to mind. lol

    • Positive he would be more concerned about a lot more people then Sutton, gray and walker. Would think he’d feel pretty comfortable against them compared to other teams left edges.

  3. Fergo and SKD would be on the right but as crowy said Sutton, Gray and Walker could hardly steam roll anybody

“Sutton, Gray and Walker could hardly steam roll anybody”

Don’t forget about Inglis chiming in from FB! 😉 And re Cody Walker, he won’t steam roll him but he will leave him grasping at thin air. Mark my words, when Keary bombs Watson will be in the halves with Pearce, unless there is an injury to Friend and they might trial Pearce at hooker with Watson and Keary in the halves. I don’t see Watson as a centre at this point in time. There are better options with Latrell Mitchell and Ryan Matterson in the centres IMO. Watson should be playing in the halves or might get a shot early on at FB.
