The South Sydney Rabbitohs have done well to keep the four Burgess boys together, but it comes at a significant cost.
The club has already been forced to release former skipper Roy Asotasi (Warrington Wolves), Dylan Farrell (St George Illawarra Dragons), Nathan Peats (Parramatta Eels) and Josh Starling (Manly Sea Eagles).
And there is mail the club will also lose handy players Justin Hunt, Michael Crocker, Matt King and Jason Clark. Admittedly, a lot of this is due to the effect of the salary cap – Souths have been the form team for much of this season and once this happens, rival clubs come hunting.
But it means the Rabbitohs will lose a lot of depth in 2014 and rely more heavily on their big-name players.
