The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have pulled off one of the best recruitment drives of the off-season – and they might have an extra $140,000 to throw around.
The anticipated departure of prop Ryan Tandy would create more room under the salary cap, although the club indicated it would not rush out to find a replacement.
Having already signed Frank Pritchard, Greg Eastwood, Aiden Tolman, Trent Hodkinson, Kris Keating, Jonathan Wright and Grant Millington, assistant coach Jim Dymock admitted the coaching staff had considered contingency plans should Tandy be unavailable.
But former star forward Willie Mason in not in their plans despite the fact he is stranded in Sydney with visa difficulties ahead of his move to the UK Super League.
The club’s long list of props includes former Storm star Tolman, Michael Hodgson, Grant Millington, Sam Kasiano, Brad Morrin, Chris Armit and Mickey Paea.
The Bulldogs are also in negotiations with star hooker Michael Ennis about extending his contract.
