Contract negotiations have been completed for a player swap resulting in giant Canterbury Bankstown back rower Shaun Lane joining the Vodafone Warriors in exchange for second rower Raymond Faitala-Mariner.

The 1.98cm Lane (21) and Faitala-Mariner (22), who were both off contract at the end of the 2016 season, have been granted immediate releases to join their new clubs.

They both made their NRL debuts last year, Faitala-Mariner going on to play 11 times after his debut in round eight and Lane appearing in each of the Bulldogs’ last 14 matches of the season (scoring five tries) including their two finals games against St George Illawarra and the Sydney Roosters.

Lane, signed by the Vodafone Warriors on a one-year contract, wasn’t used by the Bulldogs in the opening rounds of this season while Faitala-Mariner appeared once for the Vodafone Warriors against Brisbane.

“This outcome is mutually beneficial for both clubs,” said Vodafone Warriors recruitment and development manager Tony Iro.

In addition, the Bulldogs has signed back rower Lamar Liolevave from the Wests Tigers, for the remainder of 2016 and 2017.

  1. crazy move by Des but great move for Warriors atleast he wont be giving away stupid penalties or dropping 6 balls a game good recruitment!!

  2. Shot warriors but lane still has work do to here to get into the team! Mannering, Hoffman, Thompson, then Sao too.

  3. A great look to the Future Mannering and Hoffman don’t have many years and this kid is going to be great

  4. I think he had a fall out with Des because Lane had bad attitude and was pretty lazy during training. He didn’t hit the target in training that Des wanted so yeah. His only problem is his defence but he should be good for NZ if he plays first grade. All the best Lane. Hoping Faitala-Mariner gets the spot on the bench instead of Elliot. He was so disappointing yesterday.

  5. Zero tackle harden up. Every time I write something you don’t put it up.
don’t think Reynolds heard what the ref said . When the ref said pack a scrum josh heard poke a bum.

  6. Lane could and should be another matulino, big bopper plays well on the edge and has an offload in him. Move mannering back to lock and have this kid playing second row.

  7. Mannering is not playing at nrl atm, if lane was lazy at belmore, imaging how lazy he will be at the warriors

  8. I think in a couple of weeks for the warriors v bulldogs match in Wellington both players will be named for sure I reckon
