The 29-year-old revealed he is going to hang up the boots on the Footy Show on Thursday night after consulting the Sharks club and doctor.
Sad to announce my retirement from the game I love and has given me so much, my family comes first and is everything. #OnToTheNextChapter ❤️

“I’ve made the decision to retire effective immediately,” Ryan announced on the Footy Show.
“I would love to play rugby league forever but with the seriousness of my injury and the risk of further injury I have decided to put my family first and retire.
“At the same time, I am excited to still be involved in the rugby league community and thrilled to be part of the special Channel 9 family.”
