The North Queensland Cowboys are pleased to announce that winger Antonio Winterstein has extended his time with the club by a further two seasons.

A Cowboy since 2011, Winterstein has signed a new two-year deal that will take him to the end of the 2018 season.

The Auckland-born powerhouse has played 115 games for the Cowboys since debuting for the club in 2011, scoring 56 tries and proving himself rock-solid in defence.

Having made his NRL debut in 2009 for the Brisbane Broncos – against the Cowboys – Winterstein has played 162 NRL matches in total, scoring 75 tries.

He moved to the Cowboys after two seasons – totalling 47 games – at Red Hill.

In announcing the signing today, Cowboys head coach Paul Green praised Winterstein’s consistency and toughness and looked forward to him continuing to be an integral part of the club.

“Tones has proven himself at this level time and again. He’s a consistent performer, a great finisher and shows strong leadership on and off the field,” Green said.

“To play over 150 games at this level is no mean feat and we’re thrilled to have him continue his time at the club.”
