Must honour the final year of contract
Salford Reds have received a shock inquiry from Leeds Rhinos about the possible availability of star centre Joel Moon.
Leeds’ move for Moon comes less than a week after an independent tribunal ruled he is duty-bound to honour the final year of his contract with the City Reds and stay put for the 2013 campaign.
Aussie Moon wanted to return to his native country, knowing at least two top NRL clubs, including the Cronulla Sharks, were keen to sign him for next season.
Moon, who was signed by ex-Reds boss Matt Parish, was said to be homesick.
He claimed when he signed for Salford he was told he had the option of leaving after the first year. But Moon was told by the tribunal this was not the case and was ordered to stay at Salford.
