South Sydney prop Tom Burgess is not going anywhere as senior Rabbitohs players dispelled rumours yesterday the playing group was being torn apart in a total rebuild for next year.

They confess 2016 has not turned out as planned and take full responsibility themselves for poor handling skills and execution. Souths are 13th with just five wins from 18 matches.

Players concede a mini clean-out of the squad is taking place but big names, including the three Burgess brothers, Sam and twins Tom and George, captain Greg Inglis, halfback Adam Reynolds, utility John Sutton and backrower Jason Clark — all premiership winners just two years ago — are not going anywhere.

“It’s just a lot of talk really. It’s not true,” Sam Burgess said of rumours his younger brother Tom was being shopped around to other clubs. “Thomas was as shocked as anyone this morning, when it was mentioned to him. We spoke to (general manager) Shane Richardson and it’s completely not true.”
