Shock switch to NRL on the cards
Waratahs centre Tom Carter could resume his rivalry with Sonny Bill Williams next season – in the NRL.
In a shock development, Carter is all but certain to leave NSW next season and has been in talks with several rugby league clubs in Sydney about a possible code switch.
Carter is being targeted as a back-rower in rugby league, with his size – 100kg and 1.89m – and hard hole-running and defence seen as suited to the right edge.
Carter played rugby league as a junior in Young before moving to Sydney to attend a rugby-playing school.
With his eight-year association with the Waratahs at an end, Carter is pursuing the option of NRL as a means of staying in Sydney due to family circumstances.
Last year, Carter made the most tackles of all Australian centres in Super Rugby and also had the highest tackle percentage (91.5 per cent). His run metres, tackle busts and line-breaks all rank highly.
Team-mates and coaches also swear by Carter as the man who does the one-percenters such as kick-chasing and defensive double-ups.

Carter could actually be the shittest rugby player I’ve every seen. Though being a centre and moving into the forwards he could give a little bit of creativity?
hopefully parra will sign him as they need players who can tackle.
hopefully he goes to eels need a replace like hindy if tackles like that
IF best retires he is a pretty alright replacement
Carter will not go to Eels no one does.
Bulldogs I doubt won’t buy him.
IMO Roosters have the greatest chance of buying him as do Souths.
Roosters despite their performances are cash strapped and the richest club in Sydney. Souths are losing Geddes, Taylor and maybe a few more players. Theyre also a good chance.
How can souths afford him???????????? All their players would want a pay rise before they sign anyone major. The dragons will have some cash since scott and young are leaving plus boyd left last year with a few others and they didnt sign anyone major. They just need to let feind hornby and cooper go and they will have like 2 million to play with. Soward also was tempted to leave so they could throw lots of money at some big names if they played smart and dumped players… loyalty is such a factor now days but seriously loyalty aint winning games just ask the eels.
he wants to resume his rivalry with sbw so why would he go to roosters. i think dragons or sharks or panthers
maybe manly, they have had 4 or 5 rugby players over the years.oldfeild bein the last
is he any good, if so what player does he play like in the nrl.
Hi Burt,
Tommy is a very good footballer, having played with him at both school and club level. He does the 1%ers very well i.e chases the kick, puts presure on the kicker, he also is a very commited team man and great for morale. If you wanted to compare him to a current RL player prehaps Greg Bird…
thanks for answering,
Eww birds eye
@Tiger_1990 what are you talking about.

Management at the Tigers are reviewing tape as of yesterday. A hard runner to play outside Benji to effectively replace Ellis. Watch this space.
