Announcement expected soon
Wests Tigers are on the verge of announcing Mick Potter as the club’s new head coach.
Potter has edged ahead of rival candidate Kevin Walters. An appointment will be made as early as Thursday.
Matt Parish, the early favourite to replace the sacked Tim Sheens, has missed out and will now take up a three-year deal as Ricky Stuart’s assistant at the Parramatta Eels and continue as a member of the New South Wales Origin staff.
Walters and Potter were interviewed by Tigers management last week, as was Parish.
Potter has support at board level and will sign a deal at Concord, probably for two years.

Potter seems like a good fit for the Tigers. He has been successful at the top level in the UK and would have a head start over Parish and Walters who are yet to have top level experience. The Tigers have some talent comming through so I hope he does wll.
If he coaches anywhere near as well as he played, he’ll do a great job.
Goes from one broke club to another ,must like the stress!
Its a smoke screen I have it from the boards mouth that there target is Bellamy
If you go to the Bellamy thread storm supporters are adamant that he’s not going anywhere they’ve heard it straight from an afl players mouth!lol
…and you trust the Board’s mouth?
lol shuddup
Be interesting to see how he goes. He’ll have plenty of work to do. First job is to take over running of football club from Benji.
Good luck mick though start by deflating farahs and benjis over sized heads..!
Potter should be able to get the best out of & put the mongrel back into them ,he is a fair calibre coach ,but controlling merkin marshall is another story
If they brush up on theyre tackling, use a halfback who’s an actual halfback and stick with him, stop Marshall crabbing sideways and let Farah do his job, we should be pretty sweetish i’d think.
Never had a soft spot for Dragons, but i did like Mick Potter so i hope he gets some good results.
