Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens survived the NRL club’s Thursday night board meeting, but his job will be part of a club review over the coming weeks.
Speculation mounted on Thursday that Sheens’ 10-year career at the Tigers was to come to an immediate end at the meeting, following a disappointing 2012 season and in the wake of rumours of a player revolt against him.
Manly assistant Matt Parish was already being linked as Sheens’ likely successor, with Nathan Brown and Jason Taylor also said to be in the running.
However, chief executive Stephen Humphreys said in a statement on Thursday night that Sheens was safe for now until a thorough review was completed.
The only reason Tim is still around is because they don’t want marshal to go next season. They are going to wait till its to late cor marshal to go anywhere next year then punt Tim. And bye bye Farrar to parra

After watching the footy show they had a handshake deal and promised him a 3 year deal to stay at the tigers but they never put pen to paper.
I agree with you Sharkie187 that they are keeping Tim around cause he knows Benji will want to leave the club if they got rid of him.

1.. I’m sure benji has a clause in his contract relating to TSHEENS as coach..2.. It would cost the tigers too much to punt TSHEENS so they wait and hopefully he gets another gig..3.. It’s benji that TSHEENS loves not farah.. Funniest thing I have heard is the tigers apparently thinking of Nbrown as replacement..!
Benji no longer has that clause. His previous contract did apparently but not the new one. The delay in sacking Sheens is more likely the club can’t afford to pay him out for 2 years and then hire someone else – or they are waiting on him securing another job before announcing it.

Their 2005 fluke seems a long time ago now. They are a disgrace for letting seasoned players go while signing flops like Anasta and Blair. They will struggle in 2013

Wonder if the suits have already made someone a massive offer to coach from 2014? Too expensive to move Sheens on now, so just buying him time to sort out a new gig (and save themselves more outlay) freeing up resources and waiting for Bellyache to become available. It’d make sense seeing as Tigers are left with 2 marquee players surrounded by various good/mediocre players, young guns and old farts. That’s right up Belly’s alley!
Storm may have already set a limit on how much they’ll pay him, now it’s up to Wests to better it, and aside from money, maybe he’s looking for a new challenge.
If Sheens wasn’t the fool some of us thought he was for letting players go or not selecting them in prefered positions, then I apologise. Since his head was on the chopping block too, you have to wonder how much power his superiors have over him. The fact he’s under the micrscope too and what his players have said of him speaks volumes…
