Wests Tigers looking for new coach
Tim Sheens has quit as Wests Tigers coach following a revolt from his players.
He reached a settlement with the club yesterday to walk away after 10 years at the helm.
Sheens told Tigers players and officials yesterday afternoon he was no longer going to be involved at the club, and speculation immediately turned to him possibly switching to the New Zealand Warriors.
It is understood Sheens reached a compromise payout agreement regarding the final two years of his contract.
A Tigers board meeting last night to decide Sheens’ future was cancelled and the club is believed to be holding off on a formal announcement to allow Sheens to sort out a deal with the Warriors.

And this will be followed by more quality players. Not good to see a club implode like this. Looks like a few tough years ahead.
I wonder who will replace Tim and does this mean that he will quit as the Australian coach? I certainly hope so.
A shame to see such a great coach go, thanks for all your efforts over the years sheensy. Hope this will settle the ship in some way, it will make robbie happy anyway.
Club will get some consistency now in player selection for the first time in about 5 years. Onwards and upwards I say. Go you TIGERS! it was a long time coming…

Would love big Toddy to get the gig one day, but i am a big NO to coaches who are coaching players they played with, its a good sign its too soon.. ie when brown took over dragons.

Im a tigers fan and I agree with sheens leaving, in the tigers 13 years, sheens has coached 10 of them. Its time for a change. Just a bit worried what the players will think of this like Marshall.

SBW is definitely playing at the Rooster’s next year. One year deal only, then coming to the Tigers for 2 years 2014 & 2015. They couldn’t sign him for 2013 as they had Gareth Ellis already committed. That’s also why we lost Heighington, as we couldn’t offer a 3 year deal, just 2013 which Chris refused.

If your a true fan of the NRL you shouldn’t wish this for any club, these guys are going to face so many issues in the coming months. Which coach.? who stays? Who (else) goes? They are so late in sorting this out, even with a new coach if they had one how do they expect to buy in some key players for next year? The board needs to pick their act up – tigers fans don’t deserve this frekin shambles….

Players will leave, either on their own accord or they will be force too. The Tigers will become a force again.
A lot of Tigers fans will hate me for saying this but….they are better off keeping Sheens for next season and letting their juniors blood in. In 12 months they can have a descent succession plan for a new coach and keep some structure – you say “become a force again”, im pretty sure the Tiges fans will ask….. when do you think that will happen.??

this will be interesting. with the NYC team in the GF they have juniors, so i dont think its as bad as some people are saying……….. im keen to se what happens from here. its very very early on in the off season so plenty of time to figure it out.

Why would you say that? We have just released Ellis ($550K) Heighington ($300K) Beau ($300K) Ayshford ($200K),
If the tigers paid $300K for Heighington and B Ryan? They paid way overs, they both wouldn’t even make the Bench at Souths.
It’s great to have a good 20s team, the big problem is its a gigantic step up in class and will take them a few years to reach 1st Grade level. especially in the forwards!

As out there as it sounds, I bloody well hope so!
Benji is the one who bagged Sheens and got him sacked, so why would he follow him, besides, he has already said he is a tiger for life and is under contract until 2016.

I dont think anyone can blame Sheens for the way the Tigers played this year.they had alot of injuries and now that Beau and Chris have signed for the Sharks i think you can blame the board for the player revolt and not Sheens.
Come to the Warriors Sheens we definitely a good coach with your expertise and bring Benji with you,Benji and Johnson in the halves will be mean as and good combination

Blair was very good at Melbourne playing under Bellamy.
That’s because Blair was playing with good players at the storm.

Has been overdue for a while. 3 semi final appearances in 10 years would not cut it at a big club. Thanks for the 2005 premiership but I think Sheens had lost the plot. Our retention policy was really starting to suck and playing players out of positions to cover injuries is not the way to go….promote up…other clubs do it thats why we now have players like Barba, Adam Reynolds, Dale Cherry evans and so on playing in the NRL….cause someone gave them a shot.
I’m so happy Souths didn’t sign him 3 years ago when the rumors were rife!
