Sharks favourites to secure Lewis
Cronulla Sharks coach Shane Flanagan has been in regular contact with Luke Lewis’ manager, but he denies having ever discussed bringing the NSW Origin back-rower to the Sharks in 2013.
Lewis on Monday announced he would be leaving the Penrith Panthers at the end of the NRL season to pursue a fresh challenge, with the Sharks quickly anointed as favourites to secure his prized signature.
But while Flanagan talks regularly with Lewis’ manager Greg Willett – who also doubles as the Sharks coach’s accountant – he said the want-away Panther had never been a topic of conversation.
Until now.
Lewis was spotted with former Penrith teammate and now Sharks backrower Wade Graham in the Cronulla area on the weekend, but Graham denied there was sinister to their get-together.
“He had the weekend off and we just caught up for a coffee as mates do,” Graham said.

there was a problem he could not just quite he is nown as a panther. its almost like paul gallen the sharks are knows as the paul gallen sharks just likethe luke lewis panthers he had a fight and now is not enjoying his time. i thing he will go to the biggest bider there are some teames other then st gorge or cronala there could be souths sydney lossing taylor or newcastle or para who just suck and need him.
quite possibly the most poorly written post on this site ever. Congratulations
I second that! Sorry, but I just can’t understand it after reading it three times.
haha yea agree! but i recon Parramatta will make a big play for him to take over the number 11 jersey
Another reason for me to loathe the Sharks. At least the name suits them. Start developing your own players for once.
Panthers Girl, players would not leave the Panthers and come to the Sharks if they were happy out WEST!!!!!Don’t blame the Sharks, blame your management!!!!
@Burra Shark
I blame the previous management, the current one is trying to fix up the mess. What gets me is some of your smart arsed supporters comments. That is not right, just admit it.
How many of the players you signed for next year from other clubs come through your club. ?????????
@Super sharks
4, we are rebuilding and are using locally produced juniors.
@ Panthers Girl. Your excuse is worthless. Cleaning up the mess. Look at what you’s are getting rid of. Using local talent. That’s why you have purchased 4 players from other teams along with the fact that more then half your team is from other club. Come up with a better excuse
@Shaamus89
Okay, that is your opinion and again you think that you are right. Remember it took the Sharks years to get to where they are now. People in glass houses. I will end this childish debate now.
Yeah it is my opinion and a much better one then what you have to offer. How childish are you. I will end this now. Phhhhhh You always say you will end this childish debate and such but the only thing that needs to end is your pathetic responses
@ Panthers Girl you cannot be serious about your current management with Gus in charge!
Players come and go from all clubs, part of life and sport.
So stop hating other clubs and worry about your own club because your club is doing the same thing as every other club in the world!!Lets leave it at that!
For the last time, everyone keep it on topic.
I don’t want to have to come in here day in, day out and break up all your petty bitching.
If you’re here to discuss rugby league with some good natured banter, excellent. Otherwise, please don’t bother posting.
Would be fantastic news if this was true!
He shuld come to the warriours to replace luck. Lewis would slot right in at the warriours. Staunch, hearty and powerful
If he comes to the Sharks surely Gallen will make the move to prop with Gibbs (Ross to go). Making the backline Smith, Lewis & Graham, with Bukuya, Fafita, Toupu off the bench. That is a strong forward pack.
If Luke Lewis does come to Cronulla, it will only be because Jeremy Smith is heading back to St George Illawarra to captain them. If Smith stays at the sharks I personally don’t think Lewis will come to the shire.
J smith to Newcastle 3year deal on big $. Doust said on radio today thay do not have cap space for him. Luke lewis at the sharks on 3year deal. Go sharks
How could we not have the cap space?
We have lost Gaz, Boyde, Cuthbetson and McKinnon. Scott and Young are going at the end of the year. We don’t have a marquee player to speak of. Soward is a scared little cat. Hornby is a below average half and ready for retirement, Fien is crap and shoud be released. The cap is going up by at least 700K next year. We have not signed any top players for 30 years. I don’t count resigning players to our club that have come back. Doust is looking like an incompitent fool. Sack him now.
WTF are Doust, Craig Young (our recruitment office) doing. It is going from bad to worse.
Do we have a full cap to spend or what?
Come to Chooks for a 1 year deal
souths need another centre!!!!!!!!!
No matter who the nulla scum sign they will forever remain trophyless.
No matter who the nulla skum sign they will forever remain trophyless.
No matter who the nulla s cum sign they will forever remain trophyless.
Yeh Cronulla should relocate to Adelaid. We should get our juniors back that we used to have before 1967. Die Cronulla. The amount of fans they have who live out of the shire you could count on one hand. lol
Least we did not have to merge to stay alive Drag queens Steelers 95%. Queens 5%. We will stay as one
i luv how scared some fans are getting now that it looks as though the development will go through and we will become one of the richer clubs and finally start having money.
Um mate we had joins competition going way before the club was started.
Boo hoo sook. Sharks 4ever
cmon come to cronulla and answer this question if it says hes released does it meanhes available but still playing for panthers or is he a free agent and i forgot, wade graham is @ sharks and MICHAEL GORDON is coming to the shire. So hes got a few friends to start off his journey.last but not least 14-14 wow what a game
