Retiring from NRL
Sydney Roosters player Peni Tagive has today announced his retirement from rugby league.
A key member of the Newtown Jets 2012 NSW Cup Premiership winning side, 24-year-old Tagive has decided to retire to pursue fulltime university study where he will be undertaking a Bachelor of Business.
Tagive made his NRL debut with the Wests Tigers in 2008 in a round 1 match against the St George Illawarra Dragons whom he joined in 2011, before joining the Sydney Roosters in 2012. In a career hindered by injury, he played five NRL games with the Tricolours and 18 overall in the top grade.

Joined Dragons in 2010, not 2011. Was a great help in getting that elusive premiership, albeit the fact he did not play in the GF itself. Credit to him, good luck with the future.
Good riddance betrayed the Tigers. If he stayed he could’ve been anything as we have great youth development. Look at how good our juniors are our staff turned Marshall, Moltzen, Lawence, Blair, Ryan etc into supertars.
And how is he going to afford uni. It costs like 80k.

You got lucky to win it. Yu beat the NYC Roosters in the prelim but the ref didnt notice the double movement of Koroibete did he? Lucky that Bulldogs didnt put any oif their U20′s players in FG due to the fact they were in the finals leading to the week off. Btw Nofoaluma, Koroibete are the only prmising players. Tedesco has been hampered by injury aint a god sign. Sironen will fade away.

Exactly. Alot of the NRL players havent even planned for life after footy. And its even worse for those who dont make it. Say player X wants to become a footy player and is bad at school gets in rots in a reserve grade and gets released. Where to now? 80k for 2 seasons then released. Since he was dumb at school he spends it on beer, car and house. Later it runs out and then he has a job as a cashier at Franklins.
