Linked with switch to Dragons
Mitchell Pearce’s manager has batted away speculation the NSW halfback is seeking a release from the final year of his NRL contract with the Sydney Roosters.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a lucrative switch to the St George Illawarra Dragons, who are believed to be keen to make Pearce the long-term successor to Ben Hornby.
However, manager Mike Newton said talk of Pearce emulating Luke Lewis’ lead at Penrith is wide of the mark.
“He’s got another year to go and I haven’t spoken to anyone at the Roosters and neither have I had discussions with other clubs,” Newton told AAP on Friday.
“I had lunch with Mitchell yesterday and he didn’t mention anything about it. I don’t know where this stuff comes from a lot of the time.”
The dragons should snag him and Lewis for next year. both Nsw players ans both would click together on the edges
I agree we should get Pearce and Lewis for sure, they would be perfect for us. I do consider Pearce a good halfback and Lewis is one of the best locks in the game, he has a complete game. I think we could win a premiership if we had those two in our side, with Kyle Stanley 5/8 and B Morris fullback.

As much as I’d love to see it, It won’t happen. Doust and co apparently are crying poor at the moment and the silence coming from the club is deafening. Apart from Beale and Frizzell what you see is what you get for 2013.

The turn ‘This is pearce” is starting to catch on after origin 3. He is that bad hes name has replace sh t. Any club that signs him have morons in the recruiting department. If the Roosters even rated him they wouldnt be offering maloney a deal a year before hes even off contract. If the Dragons do sign him they will go from mid-table to the bottom.

How is he going to be playing for us if Easts don’t release him from the last year of his contract? I would love to see him here next year with Kyle Stanley playing 5/8. I just want to get rid of Soward so bad it is unbelievable, but most Saints fans have not worked out that he is a liability in attack as well as defence.
