Two-year deal with ESL side Hull KR
Hull Kingston Rovers are delighted to announce the capture of North Queensland Cowboys back rower Cory Paterson on a two-year deal.
The 24-year-old will join the Robins ahead of the start of the 2013 Stobart Super League campaign and at 6’ 5” and 16 stone is expected to add size and power to the red and whites’ pack.
Talking about his decision to join the Robins, Paterson said:
“I’m really excited about my move to Hull KR. I’ve been following the club for a while since Sandy (Craig Sandercock) and a couple of my old team-mates, Con Mika and Shannon McDonnell, went there. I rate Sandy very highly, not just as a coach, but because he’s also a great bloke who I know will help me both as a footballer and a person.
“I’m lucky I’ve got a British passport and playing in the Super League was always something I wanted to do so when the chance came up to play for Hull Kingston Rovers, I couldn’t resist. The timing is right for me and my young family to make the move. We’re all keen to get over there and experience a different lifestyle and culture and for me to play some good footy.”

No loss for the Cowboys Patterson has played only 2 or 3 good games since linking with the Cowboys from the Knights. The Knights where right to get rid of him his last season with them was average at best, no doubt he has talent but no one has seen anything from him in the last 2 years….
Corey was never given a chance by Henry. He played a couple of blinders from limited minutes only to be dropped the next week. Pretty hard to have much confidence when you do get the limited chances and others can do no wrong. Just ask KFFL….
He has had a few chances and played very average for most of them his heart was never in playing for the Cowboys very few supporters will be sad to see him leave.
I follow the Cowboys quite closely and know a few of the people there personally. Wouldn’t you get pissed if you were voted player of the team (only recently), only to be dropped the next week. There are some players at NQ who, no matter how bad they play, can do no wrong. Others only get half a chance and are dropped. KFFL will be the next to ask for a release……..
Sure Paterson has plenty of natural ability but his form has been indifferent for the most part while at the Cowboys he certainly has not shown what he is capable of for most of this season when he has been given the chance. He doesn’t want to stay and has opted out thats his choice, as a fan I don’t want a player at my club that doesn’t want to be there. There are pets at any club that should be dropped on the odd occasion yet they are selected week in and week out regardless of how they play thats just footy. As for KFFL he is unlucky we have such a talent pool in outside backs who would you drop from the side to fit him in?
Probs waiting for the West Coast Pirates to emerge in the nrl so he can play from home
Really, in all honesty – who is Corey Patterson?
I’d drop Graham in a heart beat. So what if he’s leading the try scoring and has plenty of line breaks. My 80 yr old neighbour would be leading the NRL if he was fed like Graham is. Truth of the matter is Graham has plenty of piss easy metres gained from running the ball back and is fed the ball a couple of metres out to score under no pressure. In defence he is absolutely hopeless (just watch a replay vs Warriors or most games for that matter). He is a full on ‘Golden Child’.
KFFL on the other hand offers an ‘X’ factor. The kid was playing brilliantly last season, gets picked for NZ and then Henry drops him……
Kalifa Faifai Loa would be my first pick for a wing spot!
