Out of contract at end of season
Leeds coach Brian McDermott admits the Super League champions have an interest in Australian fullback Tim Moltzen.
The 23-year-old Wests Tigers utility is out of contract at the NRL club at the end of the NRL season and has not yet been offered a new deal.
The Rhinos are losing Brent Webb, who is expected to join Catalan Dragons, and have been linked with a move for Moltzen, although McDermott has not ruled out the possibility of filling the vacancy from within.
“Tim Moltzen is someone who is on a list but there are plenty of names on that list of available players and there is just as much chance of him not signing for us as there is of him coming to Leeds,” McDermott said.

You should have honoured your contract, Tim, and went to the Dragons.
Haha what a loser of a player. Stays where he isn’t wAnted with the magpies. Hope they don’t offer him a contract and hope no other NRL team picks him up.
Can’t see him going over to the ESL. He will have a sook that he is leaving his BF (Benji Marshall). He should have gone to the Dragons and honoured that 3 year contract. No club is going to wanna touch him knowing what he has done. Sad thing is, I actually rated him a good talent but this year he has been below par.
Agree Shaamus89. I was surprised that the Dragons didn’t sue for breach of contract as they did seem upset with Tim over his refusal to honour his contract.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Luke Lewis did it with Rabbitohs, Nathan Smith did it with Raiders, Dave Taylor nearly did it with Titan’s this year and I’m sure the list goes on. Just shows that some players can’t commit to the contracts that they sign and should be punished instead of giving into them
It was different situation with these two. Both Luke and Nathan changed their minds within the required time period, unlike what Tim did.
Yes it was a different situation providing that the NRL has a dealine to renege on contracts, but the mire fact is that players have done this before. Clearly Moltzen was far worse then anything that has happened before.
l think that Luke agreed to terms, but, didn’t actually sign a contract the same with Nathan, I could be wrong thou. Still I believe that both Tim and the West Tigers were equally at fault and the St George were the innocent victims. Still it was not a good look.
Luke lewis had agreed but requested souths let him out on compassionate grounds. His farther in law was seriously ill and decided he wanted to stay local for his partners sake. The difference is south allowed it.He did the right thing by letting souths know his intention early and stuck around like a real man, Moltzen took of to thailand wouldnt answer his phone and let his manager deal with it. He even refused to have a sit down ow i forgot he even faked a serious shoulder injury. The Dragons did seek compensation and im pretty sure it still going on. Ow the Dragons also let boyde out of his last year to follow bennett on assumption Molzen would fill the fullback position.
Im a chook fan and dont like Dragons because of 2010 but Moltzen shouldve been penalised. If Dragons knew Moltzen wasnt coming theyd have resigned Mckinnon and Bosden, but im glad he stayed or we wouldnt have got Bosden. If he goes to Leeds they will win another premiership. I hope Warrington and St hElens win one. Feel sorry for Sts Helens fans watching their team lose 6 gfs in a row. ouch.
The trouble for tiny Tim is that his name is sh.. for the rest of his career.Who would want to sign him as may change his mind again if he signs with another club. Remember him saying he cried after he had signed with the Dragons? And what about that sudden mystery shoulder problem that was going to keep him out of the first half of the 2012 season?
Oh yeah……….don’t you want someone like him on your books!!
