David Fa'alogo

One-year deal

The Newcastle Knights are pleased to announce the signing of New Zealand International David Fa’alogo on a one-year contract.

Fa’alogo, who has played 142 NRL games, will join his former New Zealand teammate Jeremy Smith at the Knights for the 2013 season.

After spending nine seasons playing for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, the forward joined English Super League Club the Huddersfield Giants in 2010.

Coach Wayne Bennett is pleased Fa’alogo will return home and play out his rugby league career at the Knights.

“David is coming here on a one year contract, with an option for a second year if he performs in 2013,” Bennett said.

He can play ok, fairly tough too.

This also pretty means Jason Taylor will not be getting an assistant coaching gig at Newcastle

Haha…..They would be better off signing up Doogs again. I have heard he has been sniffing around town for a 1 year + option deal for 2013.

Hey nathon I’m so jealous of your squad I wish the bulldogs had an average playing age of 46 and a coach that needs to buy the whole dragons team u muppet

You have a coach who wants to buy the whole manly team, whats the difference?

I get the feeling that Bennet will leave a farmyard of eggs on people’s faces. Just a thought & certainly not critical on anyone’s opinions but I hope he struggles after putting energy into his future coaching career (should have put every last cell in his body to the Dragons) while the Dragons went from unbeatable to struggling in 2011.

Im sorry i was polishing my 7 premiership rings whats going on…oh isnt this like when i signed Mason and he became one of the props of the season.

    • roger
      Posted October 3, 2012 at 10:39 PM

its like how you bought snowden on 400k, payed overs for beau scott(500k) signed this moron (32yo) signed smith (32yo) resigned danny buderus (34yo) signed willie mason (32yo). Pretty funny how tinker tried to buy a premiership and it has back fired. There is blatantly no regard for future planning.

      • Laney
        Posted October 4, 2012 at 9:41 AM

You mean Snowden who played for his country , Scott who played SOO , Faalogo who played 12 tests for the Kiwi’s including starting in the team that smashed us in the world cup , oh and Smith who played beside him in that team and who the sharks said was there most consistant forwatd this year, or Buderus who would have played Soo except for injury and big Willie who out played 90% of the props in the comp and on $40,000 for the season Roger your the Moron and hater.

        • roger
          Posted October 4, 2012 at 10:25 AM

snowden played one game! , Beau scott is one of the reasons NSW is in such a bad state, over rated and highly over paid . You still don’t get my point, yeah they may have been great 5-6 years ago! , there all past their used by date . You may take this as hating but its the hard honest truth, so next time take your head out of your ass and look at the bigger picture . There is no way a premiership while wayne bennett is there.

          • Paulie
            Posted October 4, 2012 at 11:29 AM

Past the use by date? Like the Melbourne storm forward pack whos average age 29. Didnt they just beat the strongest forward pack in the NRL grandfinal and kept them scoreless in the second half. Age is just a number in the forwards. What count is what they bring to the table. Bennett would sign anyone who wasnt up to his standards.

oh got a crystal ball do we and of course you have that much experience coaching first grade that you know that for sure .

Sorry Wayne u meant 7 rings with a team full of internationals

    • Ummmm
      Posted October 4, 2012 at 7:27 AM

Name one team thats won a grandfinal without a few ex rep players? Bulldogs have Inu, Ennis, Stagg, Graham, Pritchard and if you count city vs country another 3. Thats more then 8 out of 16

      • Chalkie of Cronulla
        Posted October 4, 2012 at 3:24 PM

        Did the Bulldogs win?

Thing is Desy they were,nt internationals when they started but Wayne turned them into internationals oh and how many premiership rings do you have mate

Tank has a point. We arent retaining some of our best juniors either and what about our long serving players who have been moved to other clubs yet the knights are still paying half their salary. Sau , Wes Naiqama, Fa’aoso. Oh and Edwards going to Canberra wtf!!

Scott and Smith are 2 of the games toughest players. The Knights have alot of large players but where they lost the battle this year was intimidation and mental toughness that comes with experience. Fa’alogo is just their to complete the bench and add depth to a developing squad.

Large players kade snowden is just hopeless the best thing tinkerbell done was take him from the sharks. The snow man melts when the heat is on. Lol

    @Loohser

Sam Anderson will be a huge lost for the Knights too.

    • Laney
      Posted October 4, 2012 at 7:55 PM

Sam anderson could’nt make the run on side in reserve grade sad to see him go but you can’t keep them all.To be honest i would rather have kept Cook and to be honest Edwards is’nt that much of a loss he has a good hit in him now and then but his attacking game is’nt much of a loss at all.

    • adzynero
      Posted October 4, 2012 at 9:37 PM

Sam anderson is a decent player but hardly a huge loss

With the players we had we were’nt going to win anything Faaoso would’nt have got a run in 1st grade at the storm except Ryles got hurt paterson was crap and had to go to england to get a gig ,Mika ,Kafusi,Mcdonnell were the same ,Edwards,Sau,Wes were hot and cold they all need to go and when you blokes have 7 premiership rings then bag him …..

    • Paulie
      Posted October 4, 2012 at 9:52 PM

Pretty sure everyone was bagging tinkler abandoning his promises to secure the local talent. He brought Bedsy, Tahu and Snowden back to promote the local pride. Now its all back to business.

hi wayne bennett, mason was always a good player what happened to the rest of the players in the squad this year ? Its hard times not having a stacked team of internationals like you had at the broncos in the past?
