Four clubs keen on star centre
NSW Origin centre Michael Jennings is still firmly in the mix at the Wests Tigers, ensuring a nervous summer for Blake Ayshford.
Despite Tigers officials believing Ayshford is about to revive the form that had him tipped as a Kangaroo bolter two years ago, there is no ironclad guarantee he will be there next year despite having a three-year contract.
The Jennings domino could have an impact on five clubs, with the Parramatta Eels, the Tigers, New Zealand Warriors and St George Illawarra Dragons all interested in him.
His former coach Matt Elliott has a high opinion of Jennings and would love to take him to the Warriors, while the Penrith Panthers centre was one of Ricky Stuart’s best in Origin last season.
Jennings’ future at Penrith is uncertain thanks to a $650,000-per-season contract. Should the Tigers land him, Ayshford would be the likely casualty ahead of fellow centre Chris Lawrence.

Unfortunately Panthers girl it seems that the story about Jennings won’t dissapear until either Jennings is released by Penrith or one of the five clubs linked to him agrees to buy out his contract. Telegraph is also reporting that due to their salary cap situation the club will have to cut either Jennings, Coote, Grant, or McKendry

Why lose Ayeshford for Jennings?, Lose a brilliant center with alot of potential, and has maybe 10 more years left. To get a player who’s time is up and is struggling to get a new deal with his current club. Jennings is a great player, but his playing time is almost up.

If Jennings does go please send McKendry with him. Coote was brilliant when switched and he will only improve as a 5/8.
Grant has to be kept simple as that.
This would weaken the 2013 squad overall, however it would place penrith in a great 2014 position by freeing up over a million in cash to spend.
The departure of these two players would send a strong message to others who dare to become complacent or act stupidly when gifted a large long term contract. Penrith is overstocked with up and comers all raring for a possible nrl shot.

He is too old especially by 2014, too expensive and would undermine the efforts of a club attempting to rebuild. Harry Seikja does not appear to be the answer however penrith need to either buy or raise their own star for the position. Start throwing offers at trent hodgkinson, sam williams etc.
Harry Siejka and Blake Austin ARE the answer.I guarantee they will be the halves of the side who won our 3rd title.
I hope they are although Walsh appears to be a protected species and Austin will struggle to make first grade next year especially with coote at 5/8.
I like Walsh and Coote. Sejika needs about 2 years in the lower grade. Walsh with hard running props and gap runnings 2nd rowers may result in wins for us next year.

From memory the only clubs that are yet to be linked to jennings are Newcastle, North Queensland, Canberra, Easts, Gold Coast, Manly, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Jennings is signed till the end of 2015. Thats three full seasons left on his contract. I would rather get rid of Ceraldo, Galea, Mckendry, Armit and Smith and keep Jennings. How weak will our backline look without Jennings there? Maybe bring in that under 20s gun center to fill in for his spot but cmon his in career best form (well was in the last 7 weeks which resulted in us winning like 4 or 5 of those games)

One has to wonder with McKendry being on 425.000 how much are the Panthers paying Armitt, Galea, Ceraldo and Smith. Aside from releasing McKendry its hard to believe that releasing Armitt, Galea, Ceraldo and Smith would leave that amount of space under the panthers cap unless the club is paying overs for them.

All contracted players have to have their contracts registered, therefore audited.
