Re-signed until 2017
The South Sydney Rabbitohs are excited to announce the re-signing of Australian international, Queensland State of Origin player and Indigenous All Star Greg Inglis until the end of the 2017 season.
nglis’ shift to fullback this season by Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire was seen as a masterstroke, with Inglis taking his game to a new level. He is recognised as the best centre in the world, has previously won the Dally M five-eighth of the year award, and is tipped to one day become the best fullback in the game as well.
Inglis’ contract extension will see him wear the cardinal and myrtle of the Rabbitohs at least for the next five years.
“I couldn’t be happier to have sorted out my future for the long term, and to be part of the Rabbitohs’ plans for the next five years or more is very special for me,” Inglis said.

what a great signing for the club. wish the dragons had a good signing
Maybe these media hungry Rabbits could have waited until next week to announce this. This is grand final week. The Rabbits are not part of it. So shut up you losers.
Who cares
You have to admit.
He ripped us apart in our game in Rnd 9.
Wld love to have seen him the Blk, white and Blue.
And he did absolutely nothing when we contained him a few rounds ago.
True (After a 3 game Rest).
Still he does more damage than not in most games. I’d have him in my side if I could.
im glad we didn’t sign him honestly i dont think he is commited enough, seems to only turn up every other game
Mick, your an Idiot, LOSER
Good comment mate. You really added value to the foram. A liitle upset at getting knocked out of the comp last week are you?
Who cares about the Bullscum and their supporters who like to stab people and Rabbitohs supporters who like to mug people and live in commissions for housing.
But ive got news for everyone the Tigers r gonna win next year with a fresh side and we got rid of all the deadwood and retained our youth like Sironen and Nofoaluma and resigned guns like Tuqiri.
Every club needs supporters like you mate. High hopes no matter the situation. Nice work.
WOW. Tiger Jungle are you High…. LOL…. supporters who stab people, mate i dont think i’ve ever witnessed or heard anything like that at a game. Tigers are not a fresh side you may have some youth coming in.. but that will not mean you will win next year, and resigning guns like Tuqiri.. Well i have nothing to say about that statement but laugh at you… Please don’t offend other sides that are better and more organised then your side.
Tiger jungle i’ll stab you !! Lol
no doubt on a million a year , couldn’t imagine him being worth it. Not saying he’s not a good player , he’s fantastic! , but think if he has leg injuries , he won’t be playing near his best , or will be side lined , and at a free running position like fullback the chances increase , never the less great signing ! Souths will be i the top 4 again next year , a force to be reckoned with .
good for them. though im highly skeptical about clubs signing players to over 3 year contracts. Sure if they are happy with the club you can keep resigning them every 2 years but 4 years is a long time to commit soo much in one player. God forbid if inglis sustains a huge injury he won’t be the same player agian as goes for any other player, if he shows no improvement post injury they are left scrathing their heads having signed him for soo long and try to offload him to free room in there cap. All im saying is 4 years is a long time in rugby league
Umm his signed a 5 year deal LOL. I agree 5 years is to long. Penrith signed my man Jennings on a 5 year deal and everyone thinks 600k is alot for him but his contract went up over the 5 years so 300k 400k 500k 600k 650k. He to was one of the top centers in the game when he was first signed on the long term deal. He played in a under performing team last year and hlaf way through this year but I belive his getting better. He plays for Nsw and Aus.
As for Inglas is 1 million plus a year for 5 years really worth it??? Maybe 700k 800k 900k 1 million 1 million or the other way around 1 Million 1 Million 900k 800k 700k so at least if he gets a bad injury they save a few hundred thousand. His a superstar but cmon his only worth 800k max.
Think about it he plays in a dangerous all stars game in which he got hurt in this years. He plays in all 3 Origins and than for Australia. So thats 3 games out due to Origin plus a few more around Origin time if he doesnt back up. Just say he misses 6 games out of 26. He would get 50k a game for 20 games LOL
No it is 4 year deal. The deal starts from the 2014 season you muppet. His current contract runs until the end of the 2013 season. And you always run the risk of injuries but that is a risk you take with all your players.
He is one of the best players in the game. I think it is a very smart move by Souths to sign him up for 5 year. It means that they don’t have to worry about other clubs now poaching him and if it is fixed contract then if the cap goes up then he become more of a bargan.
Souths signed Asotasi on a 5 year contract and are only getting the best out of him 3-4 years into it… hopefully the guaranteed cash doesn’t make Inglis lazy & he continues to perform at 100% – at the very least he needs to in order to have a shot at the QLD/Aus Fullback jersey!
I think in the contract it should say “if not performing fullly than gets half the weeks wage”
Agreed… If I was a CEO there would definitely be performance indicators and benchmarks the top tier players would have to meet to get their maximum pay!
There are a lot of uneducated and jealous nobody’s on this site. Keyboard Cowboys.
Mick, Tiger Jungle, Rodger, Jennings fan, Hoopdawg. You are all full of Sh*!.
Your all just Losers.
Put yourself in that list Three Hats. Pretty easy to call people names from behind your own keyboard. Loser.
Hey Jim, I am comfortable at my keyboard looking out at the OCEAN from my Two Million dollar Apartment!
Hahahahaha. Sure you are mate. Dont grip too hard, you might hurt yourself.
Hey Jim, I love your JEALOUSY, just relaxing @ Alexandria Pde at SOUTH COOGEE, check it out on Google maps and have a cry you poor wanker!
You missed out Panthers Girl.
Lol @ Three Hats, surely doesn’t know what a hypocrite is.
Can’t half tell it’s school holidays… Ask your mum to spell check your posts for you next time she lets you use the computer…
Just because he signed a contract doesn’t mean he’ll honour it. The Broncos know that feeling
He only had a verbal agreement with Brisbane. But there is some truth in your last post although I do thing that he will honour it.
I’ve just read the first 25 comments on this story about Greg Inglis signing with Souths. There are 3 positive comments, 9 negative comments, 4 people think each other is a loser, Bulldogs and Tigers were mentioned, and so was Panthers Girl. Gee whiz I love this site. We all sound like sports journos, if there isn’t a good story, make one up!
Excellent work Chalkie, good stuff.
Was I, when.

to all the people saying that souths need a centre, i hear souths are close to signing blake ayshford, and maguire rates jack wighton highly and is desperate to sign him but he doesn’t want to leave canberra so souths have heard your pleas.
shift to fullback this season by Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire was seen as a masterstroke, with Inglis taking his game to a new level? Bellamy told them to do that last year he might as well coach them as Inglis at fullback saved there season.
