Could Jennings be on his way to NZ?
Memo Gus Gould: Do you still have Matt Elliott’s number?
If so, you might want to give the new New Zealand Warriors coach a call, ask if he’s interested in negotiating a release for Michael Jennings and his $650,000-a-season contract.
It’s an open secret that since Gould got rid of Elliott at the Penrith – and replaced him with former Warriors coach Ivan Cleary – Jennings has been living on borrowed time, with the Penrith Panthers keen to negotiate their star centre’s release.
It’s not that Penrith don’t rate Jennings as a player – it’s just that the new management believe $650,000 is too much money to be paying a centre.
Elliott said the Warriors had plenty of money left to spend in their salary cap but wouldn’t speculate on names. “I didn’t want to start contacting people before I was officially appointed so I don’t have anyone in mind,” he said. “So you won’t be able to speculate because I haven’t had the chance to speculate.”

This is old news, when are people going to accept it, Michael, Ivan and Gus have stated that Michael isn’t going anywhere.
Michael Jennings is shit he doesn’t even know how to play the game he should play afl
ur a joke mate, id like to see you play for nsw
@Reece Dumbest post i ever read.
So you are the AFL fan who wants Jennings to play AFL, but you think he is a **** league player. You are an idiot. What are you even doing on a rugby league forum. There is no way I could ever be bothered to even look at an AFL forum. Do they even have any?
If you say so, Reece.
haha the article on rleague has elliot saying we need quality outside backs.
So in the days since hes signed the players have publicly said they dont want him and now hes saying we need better players.
ITS GOING TO BE A LONG BLOODY SEASON!!!!
Hope Jennings leaves, it can be a new start for him and his career. he would be a great buy for Warriors, but i think they should focus on keeping there young guns Hurrell, Henry, and the signing of Nielson and also great back up in Jerome Rapati who should be having his last or second last season next year. I think Parramatta could have a look at jennings, we know that jennings could be interesting in playing under his NSW coach

Actually quite a solid side. Possibly Top 8 potential, all the people questioning the Panther’s hopes at making the top 8 might have to reconsider, it’s quite a strong team actually and having Ivan Cleary I wouldn’t be surprised with the Panthers making the 8. Premiership winners, I don’t think so.
Yeah i agree with you.We have a chance to notch a 8th or maybe 7th spot.Premiership for next year seems really really really really really unlikely.Though i do reckon we will be the most improved side next year. And to cruise.Take out ciraldo and put blake austin in there.Replace walsh with siejka. Now that’s a good side
You forgot to add Harry Seijka. I believe that Harry will be given a go next year.
oh sorry about that
thankyou
No worries
. There is a new bloke signed from QLD cup, Maurice Kennedy, I’ve never heard of him
.
Mansour re-signed champ. Also Latimore is not off contract either
Whare in for Simmons. Ciraldo is Shat House!!! Ciraldo to play NSW CUP Austin to play Lock or Lewis Brown.
Matt Robinson may start. Obviously the guy that made uo the team above doesnt even know who Matt Robinson is. His a superstar to be!!
Its one strong side. Lots of speed and offloads next year.

How do the warriors need outside backs.
Bill tupou,Konrad Hurrel,Dane neilson,Ben Henry,Manu Vatuvei,Jerome Rapati
Exactly^
they were talking about having depth althou buying jennings alfter just picking up Neilson is a bit stupid, they shouldn’t have got either and bought gagai or Beal, both would have been perfect for the warriors, one at center and one on the wing to replace the first one who has to go which is Tupo, hes hopeless!
Looking forward to see how this all shapes up, there is more than enough tallent there just need one or two more defensive minded players in the backline, Tate was a prime example.
lol michael jennings always has to get stupid rumours about him.
I thought he was going to the Eels no doubt Stuart would have wanted him. They do have to many backs at Parra and not enough forwards.
his comin to da eels
@Parra
In your dreams, Parra. I will believe it if I see it.
I have it on good authority that although Jennings manager blocked the last deal to saints they have well and truly reopened negotiations, I hope he signs with saints
The story was that his manager didn’t want him to have to relocate, well Auckland is a bigger relocation than Kograh-Woolongong.
I am not too sure about spending 600K a season on him to play center. I think it is way too much. We should have gone the 800K a season for Cronk and built a team around him, Kyle and Rein.
If Jennings is worth 600K a season then how much would Josh Morris be worth as I rate him better than Jennings. I would prefer to give Brett Morris a run in the centers if he isn’t going to play fullback. I have been saying for a while that I would like to see Jennings given a run at fullback. I think fullback would suit him. I think he could be Slater, Stewart and Barba like.
They put him at fullback once.He had an absolute shocker.
How many times does Michael and the Panthers have stated that he isn’t going anywhere. Again if it happens it happens. This rumour is getting a bit stale.
@Panthers Territory
Give Michael a full preseason training at fullback, he will go okay
.
Great Player Please stay at Penrith <3
Jennings sint going anywhere. I have said it all year. Why would you sell off your best attacking weapon???? His solid in D aswell. No one can afford him and his got 3 years left of his current contract maybe in 2014 someone could get him but not next year.
Nathan Smith and Plum may actually go to the Warriors. Plum is solid in D and has become a good worker of late.
Penrith look very good next year. Dean Whare would slot into the centers if Jennings does go Whare could possibly play fullback, He played prettty well for Nz but his not very attacking in the Centers. He looks abit lazy at times aswell.
Sika Manu and a speedy Segayro will be big big impact off the bench next year. Penrith to get 6th.
1. jennings
2. mansour
3. naiqama
4. roberts
5. tighe
6. coote
7. walsh
8. mckendy
9. kingston
10. grant
11.manu
12. robinson
13. o’donnell
res
14. segayaro
15. brown
16. shakleton
17. newtown
penrith to field a whole diff team every week as cleary decides he wants to push out guys like coote and jennings for 2013!
You forgot Whare. id have him fullback or centre
Jennings maybe, Coote I doubt it
.
My team 2013
1. Naiqama
2. Mansour (slowly becoming my fav player)
3. Jennings (my fav player)
4.Tighe
5. Whare
6. Coote
7. Walsh
8, Mckendry
9.Kingston
10. Grant
11. Robinson
12. Manu
13. Brown
14. Segyaro
15. Austin
16. Newton/ Latimore
17. Plum/Shackleton
We have plenty of depth. I think brown is a lock and to small to be in the second row so his not handy off the bench since we have a small guy in Segyaro. Austin off the bench brings plenty. He can play anywhere which he can slot into the backline if injuries or slide into the second row off the bench.
Need a solid worker off the bench aswell so maybe Latimore or Plum or could go with some impact with Shackleton and Newton. Depends on the team we are playing. Segyaro could maybe play a second hooker second halfback fole like australia did the other night with Farrah and Smith on the field.
We should play like in 03 and thats plenty of offloads and second rowers putting Jennings and Tighe through gaps.
Robinson will be our key player next year!! We need to have the fullback sweeping around him and players looking for the offload.
If Matt RObinson played in the Storm side this year he would have been the youngest player of the year. Could see Cronk putting him through caps and him offloading to the center.
What about reece Robinsons younger bro?? Travis Robinson should maybe get another crack so id have him on the wing dropping Mansour to fullback.?
Matt Robinson my 3rd Fav PLAYER
I’ll replace Luke Walsh with Harry Seijka, and I’ll add VTK and Tom in there also.
Panthers have a solid squad for next year and the ability to be competitive. However the side is way too cluttered and cleary will have many selection headaches for the new year.
So much wasted cash in that team and many of the possibly talented juniors signed for 2013 will have no opportunity unless there are numerous selection gambles.
Elliot can do what he likes with warriors although i cant see that side doing anything until they are told by management to man up and shut up regarding board selections.
True, Central coast panther. There is nothing wrong with that. I believe that apart from Jennings and maybe Sam, who are overpaid, the others will be on the standard table.
.
It is a refreshing change to see a competitive side, a side where there are pressure to keep performing. I am sure that Ivan will pick a competitive side week in, week out.
.
I also forgot to add this, I remember reading an article, I think that it was in the Penrith Press, Ivan stated that within the next few years the side will be made up from mainly juniors.
.
I believe that the re-signed juniors will be given a stint in the Windsor Wolves side before been slowly blooded into first grade.
.
SBW coming to the Warriors???
