Move to NRL more likely
Quade Cooper will almost certainly walk away from rugby at the end of the year to pursue a career in the NRL.
Cooper’s frustrations with the ARU are believed to be untenable, and his desire to play alongside Sonny Bill Williams will lead him to make a code switch.
Williams has been linked to the Sydney Roosters for 2013, and Cooper could be pitched to them as part of a dual package by agent Khoder Nasser, who manages both players.
Cooper has no professional background in league.
Williams said recently that Cooper could be a “huge success” in league.
would love to see him in the nrl, but unlikely. ‘IF’ he does sign with the roosters, looks like mini will get shifted to the wing and cooper will get fullback
I think he would be more suited in the halves.
Mini is absolute deadwood. It was only a few months ago he was on of the on form fullbacks along with Slater, Barba etc and was very consistent until round 21 when he really started to show his age. Now this young kid from NZ who could be the next Barba according to experts called Roger Tuivasa-Sheck has emerged and is our long term option.
Mini is a legend but he has no purpose in our club anymore. Along with that Oldfield, Leilua, Tupou are better than him dont know how Mini can crack FG

well if cooper joins the roosters they will be over the cap but i guess they will get away with it like they have for decades.It helps when you have politis and former rooster schubert as the cap auditor

Hypocrite. SBW is the only high profile player in the squad. Pearce gets 350k. And we havent really recruited anyone expensive apart from SBW. The TV rights deal increases too. Also Myles, Ryles and Carney(CRney was on 500k) and salary cap sponge Anasta has left.

I think if you look up the people who broke the salary cap in 2002, the Roosters are on of them, yet they kept their trophy…
On topic – I doubt anyone is dumb enough to play with the fire over the cap anymore – that lesson has been learned I’d say.
We had minor breaches and you had major ones over a period of time.
He will need at least a year before he really makes an impact. Look at Hunt and Folau in the AFL, still haven’t made an impact that other teams take warning of

The broncos need more than just a 5/8 but you are still right…they also need a real captain (like Corey Parker) a winger and looks like they are hunting for a better full back….
I doubt cooper could draw more than $300k for an NRL gig… It’d have to be performance incentive laden to keep him focused too!
I struggle to see who’d want him and could afford him but maybe the extra few meters of space will give him more room to move?

Great Player if he comes to league. he is another touch player like Shaun Johson and Benji Marshall im sure he will be just as good as benji he does the flick, good speed, and dont forget the devastating sidestep he has.

Shaun Johnson and Benji Marshall, did their teams make the final 8? If you watch him closely, Cooper is not a team player. If there is a time for him to shine, he’ll have a go, if not he shovells the ball out rather than take a tackle. Too injury prone for the NRL.
I follow rugby probably more than i follow league and he would be a really bad signing for any team. He can’t tackle, he makes stupid hail Mary passes in his own 20 meter line, he gets predictable very quickly, he thinks hes a hero ect ect, the roosters can have him. And while they’re signing shit union players take Adam Ashley Cooper as well.
How r we over the cap??? Couple of seasons ago we had big players retire or leave that were on big money. For example ryan, pattern, idris, tandy, armit, el masri, fringe players included and much more. Thats alot of spare money! When where playn good and domonating the comp all of a sudden use all say that where over the cap. Idiots!!!!

Honestly i don’t know if Quade would make it as a Fullback in the NRL, he would be more suited to the halves, In the NRL he will have more time to run with the ball and 2 less players on the field, i think it might be a good investment for any club.
Roosters will have, Pearce, Maloney, Mortimer for halves & plus guys on big or decent money, Sonny Bill, SKD, JWH.
Not sure if Roosters could fit Cooper in the Cap unless Pearce left.
Although Quade’s first year in the NRL may not be a huge huge deal if he wants out of the ARU.
If the NRL got a few more RU & AFL stars & original nrl players that are in ESL
(Q.Cooper, D, Ioane, J.O’Connor, K.Hunt, I.Folau, J.Tomane, B.Barnes, J.Webster, R.Chase, J.Sammut, M.Herbut, S.Sa, K.Lulia, G.Millington – There would be heaps more but this just a few) then more revenue will come, plus expansion!

Think Cooper is a great player and hes ready for a switch to the nrl, will be average in his first year if he gets a shot and will be an awesome product for the kiwis if he pledges his alience and would be mean on a attack if he plays for NSW but atm where will he go maybe to eels to add some depth and running ability or go to the bunnies and partner with A.Reynolds and chuck Sutton in the forwards, but all round fantastic player for the wallabies but struck by injury.
He’s the most scatterbrained flyhalf in international Rugby, who hates structure, is selfish and has an average kicking game. His defence is adequate, nothing more. As part of the Mundine stable he’s obviously made the transition to ‘look at me I’m a Rock Star’ with ease. Get rid of him O’Neill, for God’s sake do one positive, progressive thing before you go. Love him to play League, that way I’ll get to sledge him when he visits Leichhardt Oval
