Retiring at the end of the season

Cronulla Sharks centre Colin Best announced to the club and his teammates today of his intention to retire from the NRL at the end of the 2012 season.

Best, a local Cronulla-Sutherland district junior who has gone on to play more than 250 games in the NRL at four different clubs, addressed his teammates with the news at the Sharks Monday morning recovery session.

“It was a difficult decision but its one I’m glad is out of the way. I feel like a weight has been lifted since I made the decision to retire late last week,” Best said. “I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Sharks, and all the clubs I’ve played for, but it is time to move on to the next phase of my life.

“In saying that I will be giving my all for the Sharks for the rest of this season, hopefully we have eight-nine weeks to go, and we can finish the year on a high.”
