Bellamy won’t be coaching the Warriors
The New Zealand Warriors’ pitch for premiership coach Craig Bellamy has fallen short, with the Melbourne Storm mentor closing the door on a multi-million dollar move across the ditch.
Bellamy was the prime target for the Warriors after they were knocked back by David Kidwell, Shane Flanagan and Stephen Kearney.
It’s likely that discarded veterans Tim Sheens and Brian Smith will firm as favourites for the Warriors post, with speculation a decision by New Zealand officials could be made within the next 48 hours.
Ultimately, the deal fell over when the Warriors wanted Bellamy to start immediately as head coach in 2013.

Storm could have gone out and purchased players but they didn’t. They had no choice but to bring kids through the ranks because of their salary cap restrictions and they are more restricted than any other club in the comp!

Bellamy is tipped to remain at the Storm with Cameron Smith taking over after 2 years as his apprentice. Thats the word getting around here in Brisbane and has been for a over a year.

Cronk signed a contract until the end of 2016 which is when he plans on hanging up his boots. Bellamy has clearly said it time and time again, the next contract will only be for 3yrs and then I’m giving it away. How ironic that he and Cronk will finish at the same time and at the Storm. Read between the lines people. Bellamy isn’t going anywhere and, he’s already said he couldn’t coach against his current team. Telling you anything yet?

Spot on Clint. Cam Smith comes off contract at the end of 2014 and he’s tipped to be on the coaching staff at the Storm. He’ll serve 2 years under Bellamy and take over as head coach when Craig retires. To those who keep calling the Storm cheats, build a bridge and get the hell over it. They are the only team in the NRL that MUST remain no less than $30,000 under the cap every year. There’s an old saying about people who live in glass houses. Have a deep look into your own clubs before casting stones at others. It’s water under the bridge, old news so move on for the better of the game.
Well said Mark until the ARLC and Schubert say other wise all clubs including the storm and dogs are innocent until proven guilty. All clubs are well aware of the penalties and punishment that’s handed down if they are found to have broken the cap severly and blatantly.

I agree with Clint and Mark. Bellamy won’t be going anywhere. Bennett knows more than he’s letting on as well. Last night, he said he couldn’t see Craig leaving the Storm, Cam Smith was quoted yesterday as saying, Craig’s not leaving. As for so many people still referring to them as cheats, like Mark said, get over it, unless you can prove your own team isn’t cheating, it’s time to zip it and move forward. Storm won a premiership legally this year and they’ve proven that money can’t buy premiership wins, it’s all about blood, sweat and tears. Money doesn’t put points on the board, regardless of who is in the team. Storm have lost many players, rebuilt and still won without all the players they had when they won and were stripped of everything. If people want this game to go ahead, then it’s time to put aside what was and look to the future.
