It's the biggest day of the year on the rugby league calendar, and now the 2016 NRL Grand Final is officially sold out.

More than 83,000 rugby league fans are expected to flock to ANZ Stadium on Sunday for the decider between Melbourne and Cronulla, and NRL CEO Todd Greenberg is pleased fans of both sides will be there supporting their teams on their quest for glory.

"Melbourne and Cronulla deserve their place in the Grand Final.  No doubt we are in for a fantastic dual again on Sunday, when one team will secure the ultimate Premiership glory," Greenberg said.

"Grand Final week has had a fantastic build up so far and with sunny weather predicted for Sunday, I encourage fans to take advantage of free transport to and from the stadium and get there early for the build-up and entertainment before the main game at 7:15pm."

Gates open at 1.15pm on Sunday as the NRL Holden Cup Under 20s and Intrust Super Championship grand finals will both be played before the NRL blockbuster.
