Brett Morris has downplayed the prospects of a rapid recall to the NSW side for the finale to the State of Origin series but he has talked up the merits of selecting Wests Tigers sensation James Tedesco for the dead ­rubber.

Morris made a scintillating return from a long-term knee injury in the Bulldogs’ thrashing of Brisbane at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night, scoring three tries in a performance that would have no doubt caught the eye of Blues coach Laurie Daley.

Afterwards, he insisted he did not warrant selection but did back the claims of Tedesco, who would have been the NSW No 1 before suffering an injury in the lead-up to Origin I. Tedesco was again brilliant in the Tigers’ loss to Melbourne at AAMI Park yesterday.
