Gold Coast flyer David Mead has declared himself on the open market as he seeks a chance to play fullback on a consistent basis.

Mead has long spoken of his desire to play in the No.1 jersey and despite starring there in the first five rounds this season while Titans co- captain William Zillman was injured, he has been stuck on the wing for the past month.

The 27-year-old provided more evidence of his ability at the back with a scintillating performance for Papua New Guinea in their 24-22 Test upset victory over Fiji at Parramatta on Saturday night.

The Kumuls captain produced a series of defensive highlights, including a 50m chase for a brilliant one-on-one try-saver on Fiji fullback Tyrone Phillips and a monster hit on Brayden Wiliame in the last line of defence.
