The Parramatta Eels have released a statement regarding a domestic violence charge against forward Kenny Edwards.

Edwards will appear in court today charged with assaulting his partner after an incident at a home early on Sunday morning.

Read the statement below:

I would like to provide you an update on the recent matter involving Kenny Edwards.

Kenny was involved in an incident last weekend and has been charged with domestic violence. Kenny appeared in Parramatta Court this morning and the case will be held at a later date.

The Club views this incident as extremely serious and immediately alerted the NRL Integrity Unit, as per our normal process.

While the legal process is being handled by external authorities, Kenny will be able to continue to train and play as per the NRL Code of Conduct.

The Club will continue to provide Kenny, his partner and children with all available welfare services.

Our Club is committed to respecting the legal process. In addition, I want to emphasise that all players and staff at the Parramatta Eels are individually accountable for their actions. Our decisions and behaviours need to be consistent with our core values of Integrity, Respect and Excellence.

I will keep you updated on any further developments when they are available.

Regards,
Bernie Gurr
Chief Executive Officer
Parramatta Eels
