Parramatta and the club’s suspended officials have been given more time to respond to allegations of salary cap cheating, but the Eels are facing a new fight after it emerged coach Brad Arthur is in the sights of the Warriors.

Arthur, who has been a rock as the club wades through the NRL investigation, is believed to be the Warriors’ preferred option should they part ways with coach Andrew McFadden.

McFadden has been under immense pressure after a sluggish start to the season, prompting speculation his head is on the chopping block. Arthur has emerged as a target as the Warriors begin considering options for the head coaching job, making him the latest high-profile mentor to be linked with the Auckland-based club.

The Warriors failed in a previous attempt to sign premiership-winning Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy and have been looking at several coaches to replace McFadden, including Ivan Cleary and Steve Kearney.
