Cooper Cronk is within weeks of extending his stay at Melbourne Storm into a 14th season and he doesn’t want to end his representative career, either.

While fellow 30-somethings and Australian teammates Paul Gallen and Johnathan Thurston are contemplating giving up rep football to put back in for their clubs over the final year or two of their careers, Cronk is thinking the opposite.

“It’s an option. I’m not saying it’s not. But for me I probably started my rep career a little bit later than a few others,” said the champion halfback who played his 28th Test on Friday night. Teammate Cameron Smith played his 44th.

Cronk had to wait for Darren Lockyer’s retirement in 2011 to slip into the halves for Queensland and Australia, after coming off the bench as the utility for a couple of years.
